Bellbirds now return to Motutapu after pest eradication

    So far, since DoC's aerial pest control operation on Rangitoto and neighbouring Motutapu Islands last year, pateke and kakariki have been seen, and now bellbirds have been heard there. It is thought that the bellbirds probably flew over from nearby Rakino Island, and that there is now a better chance they will start appearing in city gardens too.
