  1. Our hotly contested Bird of the Year competition is kickin' off on Monday at 9am sharp.

Don McGlashan (weka) Grahame Sydney (black stilt), Russel Norman (kokako), Kate Wilkinson (kakapo), Dame Kiri Te Kanawa (kereru), and Taika Waititi (fantail) are just some of the celebrity campaigners.

    To vote go here http://www.forestandbird.org.nz/poll.

And also, in other news, we have one kokako arriving from Mapara forest on Sunday at Ark in the Park. Standby for pictures!

Your link doesn't work for me Many. Who is Ambassador to Pukeko please? If you dont have one, I have a lady who would be wonderful.

  3. Hi Gill,

    Oops - sorry - here's the link - http://www.forestandbird.org.nz/poll

The pukeko doesn't have representation at the moment. As you can see, its already got off to a cracking start. It's ranking 2nd after the kokako. That said, it may need a few kind words thrown it's way to really pull in the votes at the latter stages of the race.

Please get your campaign manager to send her vote-winning blog to moi - m.herrick@forestandbird.org.nz

    Cheers,

    Mandy

  6. Yes, indeedy they're fine birds. I especially admire the oystercatcher's ability to stand on one leg for hours on end.
