If you could name the top 5 things you'd like the environment to get this Christmas, what would they be?

Excellent question. Makes you stop and think hard...
In the end I can think of just one being necessary - to have decent decision-makers everywhere who'll help the environment without letting ego and greed and self-interest get in the way...True guardianship....

Hmm, probably about as likely as flying reindeer and a guy in a red suit coming down your chimney, but still I did say just a WISH list didn't I - it didn't say you'd have to actually expect delivery!

I'd like the environment to get a break this Christmas. The only present it needs is for all tree-hugging numbnuts to shut up. I think the environment has asked Santa Claus for this, but he's having trouble landing his sleigh due to all the hot air emanating from Copenhagen.

"Tree-hugging numbnuts"?? Sounds like tree feller has been getting into the egg nog....
I imagine if anything, the environment might be wishing that people, the human race, might disappear and leave it alone. Especially the rude ones - but that might be just me wishing that last part!!Posted 2 years ago # -
No egg nog. Just a sobering distaste for woolly liberals.

I don't think that is really in the Christmas spirit of goodwill to all men (and seeing as we are woolly liberals I guess that would have to be goodwill to all women and the transgender community as well)is it tree feller? A big hug to you and all the trees and do try to be nicer won't you?

Trying again and ignoring the rude interruption...Here's five:.
1. All possums sent back to Australia
2. Native mistletoe growing in nearly every garden
3. Kiwis so numerous in even urban gardens that they're considered a pest
4. So many fairy terns at Pakiri that you couldn't even spread out a beach-towel
5. 20% of NZ's coastline in marine reserves and everyone is happy about that.Posted 2 years ago # -
that is a fantastic list Anne!
Also - Maui dolphins and New Zealand sea lions brought back from the brink...

I would like to see a little goodwill toward all that New Zealand HAS achieved in respect of the environment.
Tis the season to have a look at how far we've come and what we have improved on, and to give credit where credit is due.
Too much negativity and hand slapping brings out the bah humbug in all of us (tree feller)

Maybe we'll get a decision saving the Mokihinui River from a hydro dam for Christmas?
