    Our branch just received this information about a film about kakapo

    The Unnatural History of the Kakapo

    When: 8.30 pm, Tuesday, 24th of August
    Where: The Academy Cinema, under the Auckland Central Library, Lorne Street, CBD
    What: This fantastic, award-winning documentary tells the story of a family living with a terrible curse. Adults are plagued by infertility and the young are vulnerable to disease. But this family is no stranger to adversity; they are a family of kakapo. Once thought extinct, kakapo are now the world's rarest and strangest wild parrot. This film tells the story of the normally guarded conservation project that is dedicated to the kakapo's recovery. Modern science thinks they've uncovered the reason behind the curse and the recovery team think they've found a way to save kakapo for ever. See more here.

    This 'film' has been out on DVD since Apr and is available from www.elwin.co.nz and is well worth getting a copy!
