  1. We are home to the world's ONLY snow parrot - the kea. If you'd like to show your love of kea, why don't you take part in this year's kea survey? More info below

To all South Island birders, hikers, skiers, hunters, community groups and alpine residents:

Saturday and Sunday the 2nd and 3rd of July is the start of this years Kea Winter Survey and we would love you to all be involved. The survey will run every weekend afternoon during July.

Where? Any location you choose in and around the Southern Alps including ski fields, alpine villages, National Parks, walking tracks, high country tramping huts, farms, private land, glaciers etc - basically any high country or West Coast forest areas.

When? You can be involved as many or as few Saturdays and/or Sundays you like for as long as you like (between the hours of 12pm-4pm).

Please find attached a winter recording form and information document (both are also downloadable on our websites home page). This information can then be entered onto our online sightings form or posted directly to us.

To find out more please visit our websites home page (www.keaconservation.co.nz) and please - spread this request around to as many of your friends, collegues and family.
