Applied Researcher in Vertebrate Pest Control and Wildlife Management.
Connovation Research is the research arm of Connovation Ltd which specializes in the provision of cost-effective, humane and more environmentally friendly pest control products for New Zealand and overseas markets. We seek a person with practical skills and experience in pest control who can conduct field and pen trials with possums, rodents and predators. Knowledge of pest control, research approaches and animal handling skills are critical. The ability to lead, co-ordinate and participate in a team environment will be important.
The applicant we are looking for will have:-
• undergraduate or technical qualifications in ecology, zoology, pest control or wildlife management and/or extensive practical field experience in vertebrate pest control.
• the ability to use traps, poisons and radio-collars and supervise and conduct animal studies.
• self motivation to work with minimal supervision, as well as possessing strong team work capabilities.
• high standards in terms of the ability to collect high quality data in carefully conducted trials.
• a good understanding of animal ethics and humaneness.
• the ability to complete research protocols, research plans and rapidly convert cage, pen and field data into concise reports to support new registration dossiers for filing with ERMA and NZFSA
There is some flexibility in both the location of this position and the nature of the job. The researcher may be based in Auckland or Christchurch NZ and the position could be part or full time.
