Stoat tails in hot demand

  1. Forest & Bird members might detest stoats but fly fishers have a soft spot for them – or their tails, at
    least.

Stoat tails evidently make excellent fishing flies, but fly makers can’t get enough stoat tails to meet demand.

Didymo Dave, aka David Cade of the Department of Conservation in Taupo, would like any stoat tails that Forest & Bird trappers can spare.

The flies sell for $5 and the proceeds go to projects benefiting native birds.Contact David Cade:027 240 9603

Sending the tails off the stoats for research about stoat distribution (DNA analyses) saves having to keep their whole bodies.
