    The silvereye is back!
    The Garden Bird Survey interim results show that the silvereye which had dropped in numbers below the sparrow, has now returned http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/top-stories/7521133/sparrow-knocked-off-its-perch/

    The photos were taken in our back yard in Rototuna North, Hamilton. We have a fairly new house and garden in a suburb thats about 2 - 3 years old. Not a lot of mature trees or plants around. I regularly feed what birds we have and have noticed an increase in birdlife over the last 6 months or so. This pair of silvereyes were particularly shy, but my persistence hiding behind the verandah pillar with a long lens on the camera paid of in the end.
