However, .... the bitter pill is that the natural guardians of the Islands - the Chagossian people - are effectively banned from returning home following years of occupation by military forces.
Conservationists and marine scientists seem split - good for nature but perhaps also a touch of 'green point scoring' rather than ensuring a policy of effective long-term conservation:
