Using conservation land in treaty claim settlements

    Right now I'm not sure how to feel about this, but today's news included info about the transfer of title(?) of conservation land in a treaty claim settlement http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10615055
    and at first it made me feel a bit uncomfortable simply because private ownership was never the original intent of conservation estate.

    I just hope that the intention is that conservation land remains freely accessible regardless of who manages and/or 'owns' it...

    This later bit says that conservation values and public access will remain.
